Our Story
Two friends traveling among the suggestive hills of Friuli, in the north-east of Italy, were accidentally struck by a special place, hidden among the last hills that overlook the Adriatic Sea: Mount Quarin. Here the vine is cultivated since ancient times with exceptional results, thanks to the excellent exposure, the temperature range and the uniqueness of its soils.
Their passion for wine, in the early years, materialized in some projects that came to life thanks to the collaboration with some wineries in the area but the desire to found their own winery was very strong. So after a few years they decided to buy a cellar and some plots on Monte Quarin for a total of 10,5 hectares. From the beginning they decided to call the company Due del Monte due to the history that had accompanied the project. In 2018 a new staff was selected and a new reality began in Collio. The cultivated varieties are: Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

The Collio region
The borderlands cause a particular charm in the eyes and hearts of travelers. The Collio is one of these: a pre-alpine area still partly unspoiled, a unique territory, a treasure of natural beauty, an area full of contrasts, mergers and cultural traditions.
Located in the Northeast of Friuli Venezia Giulia, in the province of Gorizia, the Collio is a small hilly area on the border with Slovenia that extends between the Isonzo and Judrio rivers.
The “terroir” of Collio is a perfect union of multiple interactions between man and nature, between climate and soil.
The climatic conditions of this area are very special and unique:
The proximity of the Julian Prealps constitutes an effective shelter from the cold northern winds, and the proximity of the Adriatic Sea favors the persistence of a mild, mild and breezy climate, with strong temperature variations and abundant rainfall well distributed throughout the year. This combination of factors creates completely exceptional environmental conditions, making the Collio one of the most suitable areas for the production of high quality white wines.
The soils of the Collio are composed of layers of marl and stratified sandstone of Eocene origin, brought to the surface by the lifting of the seabed of the Adriatic Sea. These rock formations easily disintegrate under the action of atmospheric agents, creating an ideal substrate for viticulture. This land rich in salts and micro-elements takes the name of Ponca and is characterized by its alkalinity, giving the wines of this area unmistakable mineral notes, flavor and aromatic complexity.
Our Vineyards
The company has 19 hectares of land, 10.5 of which are vineyards, spread across the slopes of Monte Quarin, in the heart of Collio.

San Giovanni Vineyard
Located at the foot of Monte Quarin and a short distance from the centre of Cormons, this vineyard has a variety of soil types. Thanks to its south-west exposure, which provides prolonged sunshine and moderate ventilation, the grapes ripen earlier than in other vineyards, producing intensely aromatic grapes with good structure.

Monte Vineyard
This vineyard consists of three separate plots. Located on the highest point of Monte Quarin, it enjoys a favourable orographic horizon with long hours of sunshine and intense, constant ventilation.
Gradnik Vineyard
This monumental vineyard, shaped like an amphitheatre in the middle of Monte Quarin, is one of the most recent but not the least important. On the contrary, it is one of the symbols of the winery, which has high hopes for its potential. Surrounded by woods, with less intense ventilation, exposed to the hot afternoon sun and more clayey soils, it is a vineyard suitable for a red grape variety such as Merlot. The resulting grape is powerful and alcoholic, with a lively acidity and fresh, intense aromas of cherry and black cherry.

Subida 23 Vineyard
This vineyard is also almost entirely surrounded by woods with an eastern exposure that provides hours of light, especially in the morning, ensuring that the vineyard enjoys prolonged illumination due to the low surrounding terrain, without high temperature peaks that could damage aromas and acidity. This is the optimal situation for producing a refined white wine with good acidity and minerality, complex and structured.
San Mauro Vineyard
With intense and constant ventilation, it enjoys optimal exposure, offering a large number of hours of sunlight, making it a very interesting vineyard for obtaining grapes with great organoleptic complexity, structure and flavour.
